Hi, thanks for your question. Lots of things I had a chance to study were interesting, but I was fascinated by a structure in the brain called choroid plexus. Its main function is to produce a water-like fluid, called cerebral spinal fluid, that flows in the brain and around the spinal cord making a protective cushion. The fluid also helps to clear the waste from the brain. However, we and others found that choroid plexus’s function goes beyond these. It has an important role as an interface between blood and brain and some inflammatory cells in the blood may invade the brain via choroid plexus in some diseases, causing inflammation in the brain.
This is a difficult question, I’ve studied so many cool things! I research the brain, and learning about how the brain creates for ourselves all the things we feel and see, that was amazing! It’s also fascinating to learn about the different kinds of brains that exist in the world. Unrelated to brains, at university I also studied the way animals have adapted to their environments, like how seals can stay for so long under water. All these were extremely cool!
