What I enjoy the most about science it that you always keep on learning and discovering new things. Each new discovery just unveils other mysteries. I also love that doing science is about collaboration: we are able to do our work today thanks to the scientists of yesterday, and what we do today will help the scientists of tomorrow. Being a scientist is like working with people from everywhere in space and time.
And then, I think that one of my favourite parts of science is that knowing that our work will one day help other people. There is something thrilling about looking at your results on the screen for the first time and realising that you’ve discovered something that could change the life of a handful of people.

The part I love most about science, as also Berengere said, is that you never stop learning. New discoveries are made every day and there’s never a point when you say “now I know everything”, and that keeps science interesting! Also I love to make these discoveries. It might not happen too frequently, but it’s thrilling to discover something new and, for a short time, be the only person that knows about it!

I enjoy learning new things all the time. I studied marine biology but then went into pathology and now work in cancer research and am learning a bit of data science for my work. I love being able to learn all the time.

I love that every day you can be doing something totally different, you might be in the lab being very hands-on, or in the office doing analysis, or reading and writing around your area to get up to date with the latest cool findings! This way I’m very rarely bored and I like getting to be up and about. Then there’s the excitement of getting the results from experiments- which in my field of cell biology can vary a lot from what you expect to see! 🙂
