Hi! I don’t personally know anyone who discovered a cure for anything, but my boss/supervisor invented a method of DNA sequencing that a lot of people around the world use nowadays, including people who are working to find cures for illnesses!
Hey, it’s a difficult question because I don’t think there ever is one person who discovers a cure. It’s always a huge team of researchers across the world and during many years who lead to the understanding of what can be used effectively as a cure! It’s never one person, always a team. So to answer your question, I think I meet people everyday who may have and will have contributed in one small ways to developing a cure! So what matters is that every contribution matters in science, however small, towards this!
