I grew up in the Northwest of England near Liverpool, but currently live in Cambridge. I live on a boat on the River Cam in the centre of Cambridge. When I’m not boating, I enjoy cycling, running, travel, and of course doing exciting science.
-
My Typical Day:
I get up about 7:30am and do a few things on my houseboat – for example get the fire going if it’s winter. I ride my bicycle across Cambridge into the lab for about 9am and look at the results of my overnight experiments. I read scientific papers and chat with colleagues until mid-afternoon. Then I go for a run to break up my work day, before setting up new experiments to end my working day.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would commission some educational street art. Imagine Banksy for cell biology.
